Doors

One of the biggest focal points of a home are entry doors.  They bring your curb appeal to life and create an inviting atmosphere for your guests.  Interior doors are equally important, promoting a comfortable balance of privacy and communal living space for your family.  Contact us today to discuss a variety of options for your home's doors.

Refinishing

Refinishing is our favorite method for nearly all entry doors.  First, we take them down to bare wood using non-caustic, low-odor stripper.  From there, we sand through a variety of grits, depending on the type of wood and desired color.  Afterwards, we apply multiple stain samples for you to choose from.  If necessary, we can mix stains and add dyes to produce a custom color. Once the perfect color has been selected, we begin the sealing process.  This is done by determining the primary causes of wear, then selecting from over two dozen different oil or water-based finishes in the sheen of your choice.

Painting

Painting is more common for interior doors that tend to receive more abuse from dogs, kids and the like. Touchups can be easy DIY projects, especially since we can leave the paint with you.  Painting exterior doors is a low cost, low maintenance way to keep your entry in decent shape.  Painting is occasionally the best method for doors made from different materials, such as metal or fiberglass.  The process starts with fixing cracks and other damage in the surface. Priming is a critical second step that we never ignore.  After a fine sanding, we typically use high quality brushes and rollers to apply paint, but spraying is an option as well.

Hardware Replacement

If you want a new aesthetic for your handle or lock, we can help you source new hardware to replace your old parts.  After installing the new piece, we will perform any necessary touchups and ensure that your door functions properly.  Additionally, we can install or replace peepholes, hinges, and security locks.

Repairs

We can tackle common issues such as small cracks that need filling, doors that don't latch, catchy deadbolts, stripped hinge screws, or handles that have come loose.  Occasionally, a repair will be more involved and require custom solutions without breaking the bank by replacing the door or hardware.

Sweeps and Weatherstripping

Replacing or maintaining weather stripping and door sweeps is a critical component of all exterior doors. Water leaks due to rain, insect entry, and energy loss from AC are all preventable with proper care of these two features.

Maintenance

Sometimes, all your door needs is a little TLC.  It's much more cost efficient to take good care of your doors over the years than it is to fully redo or replace them.  When this is the case, we will check and remove the hardware, clean the door, touch up color, and add a few layers of protective coating.  We recommend maintenance every 1-3 years depending on the door's environment.
